Texas Panhandle War Memorial Success Sto

Remember Every War; Remember Every Soldier; To Remember is to Honor.
This is the vision of the Texas Panhandle War Memorial Center (TPWMC), founded in 1993.
With this in mind, in 2014, Mary Nell and Rex Lemert began brainstorming with friends, Rosie and Bruce Das, on something they could do to help the War Memorial. This led to the idea of adding an indoor educational area to the outdoor memorial. Once the idea was accepted by the TPWMC board. Mary Nell and Rex became Campaign Co-Chairs and fundraisers for the TPWMC Education Center Building Project.

In 2018, the perfect building became available! The Randall County Annex building, its location and size allowed the TPWMC to expand its proposed offerings almost 200%. Fast forward to 2020, the campaign has now raised over $2.5 million dollars, with approximately $1 million of that used to remodel the old Annex. The 15,000 square foot building now boasts a world-class education center, the only military chapel in the Panhandle, a small military artifacts museum, two conference rooms, a gift shop, and 15 offices.

When asked why she got involved with the TPWMC, Mary Nell said, “Because I want to remember and honor our Veterans and their families. They have sacrificed for us and
protected our country. They have given so much for us and now it is our turn to give back to them.”
