Richard Artisan Jewelers

Ryan & PJ Richard: We're Ryan and PJ Richard, the owners of Richard Artisan Jewelers. We’re a new business, opening in November 2024.

Q: What inspired you to start your business?
A: We both worked at Barnes Jewelry for many years—27 for PJ and 9 for Ryan. When we found out Barnes was closing, it was overwhelming, but we decided it was our time to start something of our own.

Q: How has the journey been so far?
A: It’s been tough but exciting. We're learning new things every day. It feels surreal to see our business come to life and to stay connected with former Barnes customers while meeting new faces.

Q: What makes your store unique?
A: We’re not salespeople. We want to create a warm, inviting space—more like welcoming people into our home. Jewelry often symbolizes love, so we want the experience to feel personal, not cold or transactional.

Q: How has the SBDC supported your journey?
A: Gina has been amazing—helping with our business plan, social media, and even solving technical issues quickly. She’s been incredibly responsive and supportive throughout the process.
Q: If you could be a precious stone or metal, what would you be and why?
A: Ryan is the metal; PJ is the stone. If our business was a stone I’d want it to be a diamond—resilient and enduring, even when it faces challenges.
