Entrepreneur's Table: Identifying & Managing Cybersecurity Risk in Small Business

Cybersecurity is a major issue in large enterprises and governmental organizations that spend millions of dollars and have dedicated resources to protect themselves. The previous organizations are major targets because of the wealth of data and money they possess. However, SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises), are also major targets because of the data they possess and because they are perceived to be easier targets. SMEs don’t have the resources possessed by larger businesses and need as much help as possible to protect themselves. At West Texas A&M University we have conducted over 100 cybersecurity audits of SMEs. This talk will present findings regarding what are the major risks and issues in SMEs as well as the things that SMEs should do to protect themselves. Dr. Jennex will also discuss how attendees can get free cybersecurity audits and assistance from WTAMU.
