Kevin Brown began by attending the INTRODUCTION TO BUSINESS OWNERSHIP workshop and then consulted with the SBDC for preparation of a Business Plan, Financial Projections, and a DBA.  Kevin received a bank line of credit based on his preparations and progress.  His business manufactures custom wooden boxes for the protection and transportation of musical instruments, audio/video equipment, and sensitive electronic devices.

New QuickBooks Help

Remote Online Assistance

quickbooks logoThe SBDC now has the ability to assist clients with QuickBooks issues through an internet connection.  A simple download is required to prepare your computer to engage in the initial help session, and it doesn't have to be repeated for subsequent sessions.

The technology is provided by WebEx and allows SBDC consultants to see on their computer exactly what you see on yours in order to answer questions and resolve problems.

To receive QuickBooks assistance, you must be registered as an SBDC client.  There is no charge for the service. request more information


File a DBA

New Service

dba imageYou can now download Assumed Name forms from the SBDC website for use in any county in Texas, and the SBDC will help you file, if you wish. 

A DBA, or Assumed Name, is the name of a business other than the owner’s own name, or in the case of a corporation, a name that is different from the legal corporate name. If you are an individual conducting business under a business name other than your own legal name, you will need to register the assumed name with the county clerk in the county where your business operates. more information and forms

A filing fee will be charged by the county clerk involved, but the SBDC services, including the Notary services necessary to witness the certificate, are free.  Call us for more information at 806-372-5151.


Office Space

Room for Business

officeThe Entrepreneur Alliance makes office space available to SBDC clients and potential clients.  Tenants occupy a professional private office which is fully furnished and equipped with a computer and internet access, a copy machine and fax service.  Charges depend on configuration and services, but are affordable for start-up businesses.  For more information please call 806-372-5151.
