Technology Fund

State of Texas

A state fund for research and development activities in emerging technology industries.

The Texas Emerging Technology Fund has been signed into law by Governor Rick Perry and the $200MM appropriated by the state legislature will be available within ninety days.  "Eligible industries" are those that will lead to immediate or long term creation of high quality new jobs in Texas and/or could lead to medical or scientific breakthroughs.

Two key areas are being addressed immediately:

  1. Nominations for the seventeen member committee which will review applications and recommend funding.
  2. Applications for funding from eligible businesses.

These two key activities will be handled through Regional Centers of Innovation and Commercialization, which are to be collaborative entities composed of public and private stakeholders in economic development.
